Arrive at Leh, the gateway to every legendary Umling-La bike tour and high-altitude Himalayan expedition. After landing at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, head to your designated hotel and begin acclimatizing to the thin mountain air. Stay hydrated and rest well during the day as your body adjusts to Ladakh’s altitude.

The engines roar to life as the Umling-La bike tour officially begins. Ride out of Leh toward the legendary Khardung La, one of the highest all-season motorable passes in the world. The road climbs dramatically, revealing breathtaking views of Ladakh’s rugged mountains and winding valleys.
After celebrating the summit moment with tea at the famous pass café, descend into the magical Nubra Valley. If time permits, visit Diskit Monastery, home to the towering Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Later, explore the sand dunes of Hunder, where you can ride the unique Bactrian Camel that once carried traders along the Silk Route. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

Today’s ride leads toward Turtuk, a fascinating border village close to the frontier of Gilgit-Baltistan. This region feels completely different from the rest of Ladakh, both culturally and geographically. The valleys narrow dramatically, revealing lush green fields and fruit orchards framed by towering mountains.
Turtuk offers a rare glimpse into Balti culture and history. Wander through its traditional stone houses, meet the friendly locals, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before riding back toward Hunder for dinner and an overnight stay at Camp.

Wake up to the stunning scenery of Nubra Valley before riding through the wild and scenic Shyok River valley toward the world-famous Pangong Lake. This route is one of the most dramatic motorcycle rides in Ladakh, with changing landscapes ranging from rocky canyons to open mountain plains.
As you approach Pangong, the deep blue lake suddenly appears between towering mountains. Located near the India–China Border, the lake is known for its surreal colors that shift from blue to turquoise and even crimson during sunset. Spend the evening soaking in the beauty of this Himalayan marvel before an overnight stay at Merak Village.

The ride continues through the stark beauty of the Changthang Plateau, where vast open landscapes stretch endlessly into the horizon. Riders may even spot rare wildlife like the Black-necked Crane or wild horses roaming the plains. In the evening, visit the famous Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the highest observatories in the world, before staying overnight in Hanle.

Today is the crown jewel of the Umlingla motorcycle trip. After breakfast, ride out of Hanle toward the legendary Umling La, the highest motorable road in the world. Crossing Hanle Bridge, the route enters the remote Kalatartar Plains, a vast off-road landscape where riders truly feel the isolation of the trans-Himalayan wilderness.
The climb to Umling-La is thrilling and demanding, but the reward is unforgettable: standing atop the world’s highest road with endless mountain views all around. After celebrating the achievement, ride toward the pristine waters of Tso Moriri for an overnight stay beside this spectacular high-altitude lake.
