You have to come prepared both physically and mentally, keep in mind that no Cellular service works in the area except for Bsnl Postpaid that too in Hanle. After departing from Hanle you will come across Hanle bridge, punch some kilometres and you will see the Kalatartar plain, ( Barren straight road), and if you are lucky you will get the chance of seeing the majestic Tibetan Gazelle on this road.
Umlingla bike trip is not complete without the plains of kalatartar and blacktop road, which is amazing landscape and picturesque. And after riding for a while you will come across Nerbo-la pass. ( 5282 m ), take a break for a while and enjoy the view. And after a short break head towards  Umling-la, on the way you will come across a sign board which says “now you are above Everest base camp” this is heartwarming and an accomplishment of this ride. And just after an hour or two you will come across the highest motor able road in the world Umling la pass ( 5798 m ) It has dethrone the khardong-la pass of ( 5603 m ) as the highest road in the world.
If you go a bit further you will come across the last village of Indo- china border which is Demjok.
From Hanle to Umling-la there is no restaurant or Atm. And the distance from Hanle to Top is  75 km and takes roughly around 5 hrs when riding from Nerbo la pass, there is another road which leads to the Top via Photi la pass and it is around 115 km and takes roughly 7 hrs to cover one side distance, So go with all these things in mind.
To do this trip you have to reach Hanle, and there is few ways you can reach Hanle
First Route- fly directly to leh and after 1 day break visit hanle via Karu - Upshi - Chumathang - Nyoma - Hanle. Distance will be around 260 km, duration will be 8 hrs
Second Route- you can start from Manali - Jespa - Serchu - Tsomoriri - Hanle. Distance will be 490 km. Duration 2 days.
Third Route- you can do Nubra and Pangong trip and after that you will go to Chuchul - Tsaga-la - Nyoma- Hanle.

Day 1

Arrival in Leh | Adapt for the Day

Arrive at Leh, the gateway to every legendary Umling-La bike tour and high-altitude Himalayan expedition. After landing at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, head to your designated hotel and begin acclimatizing to the thin mountain air. Stay hydrated and rest well during the day as your body adjusts to Ladakh’s altitude.

By evening, You will be briefed about the trip, you will meet your fellow riders and this is a briefing session with get to know each other activity. your tour captain will allocate motorcycle of your selection. 

Day 2

Leh to Nubra Valley | Khardung-La

The engines roar to life as the Umling-La bike tour officially begins. Ride out of Leh toward the legendary Khardung La, one of the highest all-season motorable passes in the world. The road climbs dramatically, revealing breathtaking views of Ladakh’s rugged mountains and winding valleys.

After celebrating the summit moment with tea at the famous pass café, descend into the magical Nubra Valley. If time permits, visit Diskit Monastery, home to the towering Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley. Later, explore the sand dunes of Hunder, where you can ride the unique Bactrian Camel that once carried traders along the Silk Route. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

Day 3

Hunder to Turtuk Village

Today’s ride leads toward Turtuk, a fascinating border village close to the frontier of Gilgit-Baltistan. This region feels completely different from the rest of Ladakh, both culturally and geographically. The valleys narrow dramatically, revealing lush green fields and fruit orchards framed by towering mountains.

Turtuk offers a rare glimpse into Balti culture and history. Wander through its traditional stone houses, meet the friendly locals, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before riding back toward Hunder for dinner and an overnight stay at Camp.

Nubra to Pangong Lake | Shayok Valley

Wake up to the stunning scenery of Nubra Valley before riding through the wild and scenic Shyok River valley toward the world-famous Pangong Lake. This route is one of the most dramatic motorcycle rides in Ladakh, with changing landscapes ranging from rocky canyons to open mountain plains.

As you approach Pangong, the deep blue lake suddenly appears between towering mountains. Located near the India–China Border, the lake is known for its surreal colors that shift from blue to turquoise and even crimson during sunset. Spend the evening soaking in the beauty of this Himalayan marvel before an overnight stay at Merak Village.

Day 5

Pangong to Hanle | Rezang-la War Memorial

Begin the day riding along the remote Changthang plateau, leaving Pangong Lake behind as the route heads toward Hanle. En route, pay tribute at the historic Rezang La War Memorial, commemorating the brave soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

The ride continues through the stark beauty of the Changthang Plateau, where vast open landscapes stretch endlessly into the horizon. Riders may even spot rare wildlife like the Black-necked Crane or wild horses roaming the plains. In the evening, visit the famous Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the highest observatories in the world, before staying overnight in Hanle.

Day 6

Hanle to Umling-la | Tsomoriri

Today is the crown jewel of the Umlingla motorcycle trip. After breakfast, ride out of Hanle toward the legendary Umling La, the highest motorable road in the world. Crossing Hanle Bridge, the route enters the remote Kalatartar Plains, a vast off-road landscape where riders truly feel the isolation of the trans-Himalayan wilderness.

The climb to Umling-La is thrilling and demanding, but the reward is unforgettable: standing atop the world’s highest road with endless mountain views all around. After celebrating the achievement, ride toward the pristine waters of Tso Moriri for an overnight stay beside this spectacular high-altitude lake.

Day 7

Tsomoriri to Leh | Puga Hot Spring

Fuel up with a big breakfast before the long ride back to Leh. The route crosses the dramatic landscapes of Changthang Plateau before reaching the geothermal valley of Puga, home to the bubbling Puga Hot Springs.

Continuing the ride, you may stop at the magnificent Thiksey Monastery, By evening, return to Leh and celebrate the successful completion of your Umling-La bike tour.

To reserve a slot you need to pay ₹ 5000/person, at the time of booking the trip & balance to be paid 15 days before tour starts.
Mototour ladakh holds no responsibility for road blocks or flight cancelled or any unforeseen situation happen on tour.
Child between 5 – 8 yrs is 30% of the total cost, Under without bed charges (no bed / extra mattress will be provided) and child above 8 yrs is considered adult (extra mattress will be provided)
