Arrival in Leh | Adapt for the Day
Location: Leh
Highest Altitude: 11,500 ft (3,500 m)
Your Ladakh winter or summer motorcycle expedition begins with your arrival in Leh, the capital of Ladakh and the gateway to Himalayan motorcycling. Because of the region’s high altitude, the first day is reserved entirely for acclimatization.
Spend the day resting, hydrating, and allowing your body to adjust to the thin mountain air. In the evening, riders gather for a trip briefing, motorcycle allocation, and a detailed overview of the upcoming journey.
If time permits, you may explore Leh’s old town, local markets, and nearby monasteries while enjoying the dramatic views of the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

Pangong Lake is famous for its changing shades of blue and its dramatic setting among barren mountains. During winter, the lake freezes completely, creating one of the most surreal landscapes in the Himalayas.

The ride begins along the Pangong shoreline before crossing Tsaga La Pass, entering a vast high-altitude plateau near the India–China border. The road then climbs dramatically toward Umling La, reaching an incredible altitude of 19,020 ft.
Reaching the summit is an unforgettable moment—an achievement that only a handful of riders experience in their lifetime.
Although Mig La Pass (19,400 ft) is even higher, access is not permitted this year due to operational restrictions, so the expedition focuses on conquering Umling La instead.
